After a long hiatus (by smartphone standards), OPPO Malaysia has once again announced the availability of a new device for the Malaysian market. OPPO is marketing the Mirror 3 as a cost effective 64-bit device and it’s targeting the lower price range market. The device is said to follow OPPO’s ‘The Art of Technology’ brand philosophy.
The OPPO Mirror 3 is mid-tier smartphone that didn’t excite anyone when it was first announced, nevertheless it should not be easily dismissed. It should ‘shine’ when it gets its Lollipop update, however for now it is just another good looking device at decent price range.
The device is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8916 processor and runs OPPO’s own ColorOS 2.0.1 (based on Android 4.4 KitKat). Though the 1 GB RAM and 8 GB memory look meager, the micro SD card slot and its support for capacities of up to 128 GB should appease those who are more concerned about storage space. The dual-SIM dual-standby phone supports 3G and as well as 4G LTE Cat 4. OPPO has also brought its fast charging expertise to the Mirror 3. Though its not VOOC, the 5V-2A charger will juice up the Mirror 3 from 0 to 90% in 90 minutes.
Here are the key specifications of the OPPO Mirror 3:

The Mirror 3’s 4.7” display, its slim profile, and the polka dot textured back make the device easier to hold and easy to navigate with one hand. The dots themselves have been moulded 3-dimensionally after going through 10 printing processes and are protected by a scratch resistant UV coating.
Another highlight of the Mirror 3 is its 8 MP rear camera. The Sony sourced IMX179 BSI CMOS sensor has a 1/3.2” size, comes with a 1.4 µm pixel size, as well as 5P lens assembly with blue glass filter and an f/2.0 aperture. Together with the PI 2.0+ technology, the Mirror 3 looks like a formidable mid-range camera phone. Other key camera features include a 5 MP front camera, Double Exposure, Flash Shot, and the Beautify Mode 3.0 (for selfie lovers who are not so confident in the way they look).
OPPO has also included the Smart Remote Technology 2.0+ to go with the built-in IR blaster. The app will be able to work with home appliances, such as televisions, and air-conditioners too.
The OPPO Mirror 3 is available in Malaysia now, as well as other markets such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Australia. The device has an RRP of RM 898 and comes in Black, and White colour options.
